A Microsoft software update forced some users to answer a survey before they closed OneDrive. It told The Verge in a statement: "Between Nov. 1 and 8, a small subset of consumer OneDrive users were presented with a dialog box when closing the OneDrive sync client, asking for feedback on the reason they chose to close the application. Perhaps Microsoft hoped the poll would reveal why some users don't like a system that offers only an all-or-nothing approach to storing files. AdvertisementAdvertisementPart of the problem has been Microsoft's insistence on pushing the clunky and unpopular OneDrive cloud storage system on users. X users were also not umimpressed with the change, with one pointing out that using Microsoft was "quickly becoming an abusive relationship."

“Having Target here helped revitalize East Harlem with hundreds of new jobs, customers and more services to our area. Courtesy Lou MartinsThe retail industry said it is grappling with a particular type of store theft that is more dangerous than petty shoplifting, called “organized retail crime” or ORC. The East River Plaza shopping center in New York City's East Harlem neighborhood. “The East Harlem store could have been doing very high volume in sales but still losing money because of theft,” Cohen said. The Target store in NYC's East Harlem is set to close in October.

“From an economic development standpoint, it’s a giveaway,” said Jeffrey LeFrancois, the chair of Manhattan Community Board 4, which covers a stretch of the West Side that includes the pier. “Given that Vornado has already had the ability to do this the past 13 years and done nothing, it’s outrageous that they are taking this pier from taxpayers for pennies on the dollar.”Mr. LeFrancois said the terms were particularly friendly because Vornado, which primarily operates office buildings in New York City, has been eager to find new revenue sources as companies jettison physical offices. The relationship is mutually beneficial: Developers get to build on city land, and the mayor gets to point to new projects as evidence that he is leading New York out of the pandemic. In Queens, the mayor has touted a plan to redevelop a swath of the borough that will include the new soccer stadium and what officials have described as the largest construction of entirely affordable housing since the Mitchell-Lama developments of the 1970s. Like other stadiums in the city, the new one will not pay property taxes, although the team that will play there, the New York City Football Club, will pay some rent.

Food trucks cannot idle with the engine running. Street vendors “don’t want to cause problems because they’re out there on the street everyday,” said Matthew Shapiro, the legal director of Street Vendor Project at the Urban Justice Center. A decade ago, the city plugged a few food carts into the grid, but the initiative fizzled out. Now, the Street Vendor Project is working on a pilot program to power a few food carts with batteries to test the cleaner and quieter technology. If it’s successful (and gets funding), the technology could potentially work for larger food and ice cream trucks, too.
